Product Owner

About the role

We are looking to hire a Product Owner to join our team and help us make great software for our users. As a software company, this is a key position directly responsible for contributing to the success of the organization. Your market knowledge, thoughtful analytical skills, and problem-solving capability will help make our product strategy a reality! We’re looking for an energetic and motivated self-starter that has a passion for technology and innovation. 

What you will be doing 

The Product Owner will be responsible for the development of our product lines. In this position, you will identify, define, order, and refine the requirements and communicate that information to the team. During the development lifecycle, you will need to clarify those requirements, negotiate trade-offs, and work to bring user stories to acceptance. The Product Owner will work directly with various internal and external stakeholders as well as the development team to ensure successful translation of those requirements into high-quality products. To excel at this position, you will need to be able to: 

  • Participate in product visioning, road-mapping, and release planning events 
  • Maintain the product backlog 
  • Write great user stories and define acceptance criteria 
  • Validate requirements and acceptance criteria with stakeholders as needed 
  • Participate in sprint planning, review, and retrospective meetings, and provide feedback to the team 
  • Make timely tactical decisions as they impact the end-user experience 
  • Maintain constant communication with the development team and stakeholders 
  • Report on the development progress and ensure successful and timely releases 
  • Collaborate with the VP of Product on the product roadmap as strategic objectives shift 
  • Act as an ambassador for the Product group internally and externally and as the primary contact for queries related to the products 

What you need for the position 

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline or equivalent work experience 
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar/complementary role in a technology company 
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (verbal and written) with the ability to communicate across business and technology 
  • High degree of analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills 
  • Understanding of the Agile software development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, XP, etc.) 
  • Experience with Jira Software and Confluence or similar 
  • No C2C; must be authorized to work for any employer in the US
  • Preferred: Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO I) certification
